A high-level delegation of the Chinese Communist Party (CPC) is set to visit Kathmandu next week amid a fluid political situation in Nepal.

The three-member delegation will be led by Zheng Youya, director for Nepal Affairs at the International Department of the Chinese Communist Party (IDCPC). The team will be in Nepal for a three-day visit.

This will be the first high-level Chinese political delegation to Nepal since the Gen Z movement. The visit is being viewed as significant at a time when geopolitical contestation in Nepal has intensified.

China believes Western influence in Nepal has increased after the Gen Z movement. Beijing has consistently said it wants to maintain equal relations with all political parties in Nepal.

During the visit, the delegation is scheduled to meet leaders of various political parties.
