Daily life in Banke has been affected by dense fog and a cold wave, prompting local units to close schools for several days.
As the prolonged cold wave began to disrupt daily activities, Nepalgunj Sub-metropolitan City, Kohalpur Municipality and Khajura Rural Municipality decided to suspend classes.
Citing extreme cold, the education section of Kohalpur Municipality announced a two-day closure of schools. All community and private schools within the municipality will remain closed on Wednesday and Friday. The classes will now resume only on Sunday, as Thursday is a public holiday for Christmas.
Similarly, a meeting of the education committee of Khajura Rural Municipality on Tuesday decided to declare holidays on Wednesday and Friday. Senior education officer Khagendra Malla said the decision was taken considering difficulties in movement caused by the cold wave and the potential adverse impact on students’ health.
Meanwhile, Nepalgunj Sub-metropolitan City has announced school holidays from December 26 to December 29. Education Division Chief Gorkha Bahadur Thapa said the decision was taken due to the severe cold wave and the ongoing Nepalgunj Running Shield tournament.
