The government has disbursed Rs4.8 million to cover immediate expenses for individuals injured during the Gen Z movement. The amount was disbursed to provide Rs20,000 per injured based on a preliminary report by the Ministry of Health and Population, the prime minister’s secretariat said on Tuesday.

The first tranche has reached Jhapa, Morang, Sunsari, Kathmandu, Lalitpur, Kaski, Surkhet, Kailali, and Dadeldhura, according to the Home Ministry.

The Cabinet, on September 28, had approved immediate support until a technical committee could classify victims and arrange appropriate relief. So far, the Health Ministry has submitted records of 2,429 injured individuals. Identification cards were also issued for those injured during the September 8–9 demonstrations to ensure proper treatment, with 2,876 cards sent to district administration offices and 38 distributed by hospitals.

Hospitals have set up Gen Z clinics for follow-up treatment, with free transport provided to patients, the prime minister’s secretariat said.

The Health Ministry has established a hotline and designated contacts to assist victims. A technical committee, including representatives of the injured, is being formed to categorise cases and oversee relief. More than Rs1 billion has been spent on treatment so far.

The Home Ministry has provided Rs1.5 million each to families of 53 people who died during the movement, covering financial aid and funeral expenses. Forty-nine families have received the funds, while four remain in process. The Cabinet had previously approved Rs1 million for financial aid and Rs 500,000 for funeral and other costs.
