A murder convict, who had escaped from the Tulasipur Prison during last month’s Gen Z protests, has been recaptured after attempting to kill another person.
Police said 22-year-old Khim Bahadur BK of Ranijaruwa in ward 5 of Tulasipur Sub-Metropolitan City who was serving a 25-year jail term for murder, attacked a 53-year-old local man with a sharp weapon on the night of September 27.
The victim was seriously injured in the assault. Acting on a complaint filed by the victim, police launched a search and nabbed BK on Saturday night from his hiding in Satkhuti in ward 2 of Dangisharan Rural Municipality in the district.
BK had escaped from Tulshipur Prison on September 9 along with several inmates amid chaos triggered by the nationwide anti-corruption protests.
Police inspector Surya Rana, information officer at the Area Police Office in Tulasipur, said BK has been handed back to prison authorities and a fresh investigation has been launched against him for the attempted murder case.
