Minister for Information and Communication Jagdish Kharel has condemned the recent arson and vandalism at the Kantipur Publications offices in Kathmandu, calling it “an attack on the entire media sector.”
Inspecting the media house’s damaged property in Tinkune on Tuesday, following the September 9 demonstrations that escalated into violence, Kharel expressed his sadness at the destruction caused to the publication.
He assured that those involved in the attacks would be brought to justice through an impartial investigation. “We will make every effort to ensure that the culprits face legal action,” Kharel said.
The minister also noted that, recognising the scale of human and material losses across the country, the government had already formed an inquiry commission.
He added that the widespread incidents of vandalism and arson would be thoroughly investigated.
