A 15-year-old boy who had been missing for three days was found dead in Siraha on Tuesday morning. The deceased, Abhishek Singh, was the son of Sanjay Singh of ward 13 in Golbazar Municipality.
Police reported that Abhishek’s body was discovered around 6am in a mango orchard in his village. He had gone missing on Sunday evening. Despite searching through the night, his family could not locate him.
The day after his disappearance, at around 8am, the family received a message on their mobile phones indicating that Abhishek had been abducted.
The abductors demanded a ransom of Rs50 million, warning the family in Hindi that Abhishek’s life depended on their payment. They threatened that if the money was not delivered by September 25, he would be killed. The messages also warned the family and police not to report the case and instructed that no one in the village should learn about the abduction, claiming they were from Bihar.
Following the threats, the family sought police assistance. While authorities and the family were jointly searching for Abhishek, he was found dead.
Anantaram Sharma, Superintendent of Police at the District Police Office, Siraha, said that a trained team with sniffer dogs is at the scene and a detailed investigation is underway.
