Gen Z protesters opposing corruption and a ban on social media platforms broke into a restricted area in New Baneshwar on Monday.
Police had set up barricades to demarcate the area, but protesters pushed through and damaged them.
Police responded with water cannons and teargas canisters to control the crowd. Protesters clashed with officers, throwing tree branches and water bottles. They were chanting slogans against the government.
Some of the protesters have entered the Parliament building premises in New Baneshwar.
