A 21-year-old woman and her 10-month-old daughter were found hanging in Gaurishankar Community Forest of Ghodaghodi Municipality-7, Kailali, on Saturday.
According to the Area Police Office, Sukhad, the deceased have been identified as Aarti Dangoura and her daughter Anuja. Police said the mother and child had been missing since August 14.
Preliminary findings suggest that the child was hanged first and the mother later took her own life. However, police said the exact cause of the deaths will be known only after a detailed investigation.
The bodies have been sent to Tikapur Hospital for post-mortem examination. While no formal complaint has been lodged yet, the woman’s maternal family is preparing to file a case of abetment to suicide.
