Thieves broke into Shivashanti Jewelers in Paraul Bazaar of Mahottari district and made off with gold and cash on Saturday night.
According to the District Police Office, a group of thieves stole gold ornaments and a locker from the store in Paraul Bazar in ward 3 of Balwa Municipality.
CCTV footage showed the thieves escaping toward Bardibas in a jeep after the incident. The exact value of stolen goods has yet to be confirmed.
Shop owner Arun Kumar Sah said five thieves took 20 tola of gold, Rs150,000 in cash, a safe, and the store’s CCTV hard disk. Investigation is underway into the case, said police.
