Advocate Govinda Bandi appointed law minister

Advocate Govinda Sharma Bandi has been appointed the minister for law, justice and parliamentary affairs.
Bandi will replace Dilendra Badu who has been given Industry, Commerce and Supplies portfolio.
President Bidya Devi Bhandari’s communication expert Tika Dhakal confirmed that Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba has recommended Bandi as the minister for law, justice and parliamentary affairs.
“The Prime Minister has recommended Govinda Bandi as law minister,” said Dhakal. “Bandi will be administered the oath of office and secrecy this afternoon.”
Bandi played an active role in preparing the interpretative declaration that paved the way for the ratification of the Millennium Challenge Corporation Nepal Compact.
He is currently close to CPN (Unified Socialist).
In the past, he fought several cases on behalf of the victims from the Maoist insurgency.
Since he is not a member of any of the houses of the federal parliament, he can serve as minister for a maximum of six months.
