Ambassadors appointed by Oli government to be recalled

The government has decided to recall all ambassadors politically appointed by the previous KP Sharma Oli-led administration.
A Cabinet meeting on Tuesday decided to recall ambassadors appointed under political quotas by the previous government, according to Minister for Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs Gyanendra Bahadur Karki. But career diplomats working as ambassadors will carry on their assignments, said Karki.
The Oli government had made some high-profile ambassadorial appointments to India, China and the United States, among other countries.
Former ministers Nilamber Acharya, Mahendra Bahadur Pandey and Yubaraj Khatiwada are serving as ambassadors to India, China and the US, respectively.
Those recalled will be given three weeks to a month to return home.
