New Delhi has picked Vinay Mohan Kwatra, currently India's ambassador to France, as its new ambassador to Nepal, at least two diplomatic sources confirmed.
Kwarta is succeeding Manjeev Singh Puri, whose term as India's envoy to Nepal ended in December-end.
Kwarta is a member of the Indian Foreign Service for the last 30 years.
He previously served as a joint secretary at the office of the Prime Minister of India and headed the Policy Planning and Research Division of India's Ministry of External Affairs.
A senior Foreign Ministry official confirmed to the Post that the ministry received the communication from the Indian side on the new envoy on Monday.
"We have already received a request for agreemo on Kwarta's name as India's new ambassador to Nepal," said the senior official.
Kwarta is expected to arrive in Kathmandu in early February.
