A rainstorm lashed the northern region of Mahottari district on early Monday morning, damaging crops and disrupting electricity supply in many areas.
In Hatisarba village of Bhanaga Sitapur-6, the rainstorm blew away the roofs of three houses. Police said the families of Bishweshwor Paswan and Nawal Kishor Sah have been left in the lurch after their homes were damaged by the high speed wind.
Properties worth over Rs 200,000 were lost in the incident.
Power supply was obstructed for more than 12 hours in seven villages after the storm downed electricity poles. The Gaushala branch of Nepal Electricity Authority said the storm has uprooted electricity poles in various parts of the district.
Mahesh Prasad Singh, ward chairman of Gaushala Municipality-9, said that daily administrative works of the ward office have been hampered because of the power cut.
“Many offices could not provide service to the service seekers throughout the day. We are also unable to do online registration of vital personal events like birth, death, marriage, and other administrative works,” he added.
