The education units of all six rural municipalities in Baglung district have been reeling under a shortage of employees.
The shortage of government employees in the provincial and local level is mainly due to civil service adjustment with most employees voicing dissatisfaction of having to work under the provincial and local level governments.
Currently, the positions of under secretary have been filled in only four municipalities, while there are no section officers and assistant technicians in the local units.
Posts of an officer and an assistant technician in all of the municipalities are also vacant. Joklal Budha, chairman of the Tamankhola Rural Municipality, said day-to-day administrative works have been affected because of staff shortage. “We are unable to conduct exams and send textbooks to the schools due to the shortage of employees,” said Budha.
The then District Education Office has been working as the coordination unit after all the government authorities were put under the federal system.
