Dr Govinda KC, who is on the sixth day of his 16th hunger strike, has symptoms of heart problem, doctors attending him said on Monday. He was admitted to Ilam Hospital this morning after he contracted pneumonia and his heartbeat was found abnormal.
Informing about the initial examination after Dr KC was admitted to the hospital, medical superintendent Dr Bijendra Kumar Shah warned that the problems seen on the six day of his hunger strike could deteriorate further.
“We cannot treat him in Ilam if his health gets worse,” he said, adding, “We don’t have ICU, anesthesia and high grade medicines to control his heartbeat. We have to refer him to Biratnagar or Dharan if his health deteriorates further,” he said.
