More than 500 Nepali Congress Mahasamiti members have launched a signature campaign, demanding that Nepal be restored as Hindu state.

They will table a motion on Monday during the ongoing Mahasamiti meeting, seeking discussion on the topic matter restoration of the Hindu state that should be incorporated in the party charter.

“We will table a proposal seeking amendment to the party charter, calling party leaders and Mahasamiti members to discuss the issue of restoration of Hindu state,” said Central Working Committee member Shankar Bhandari, who is leading the campaign.

A separate desk has been set up at the meeting venue to collect the signatures of Mahasamiti members to support the agenda. 

It needs at least 25 percent support or around 400 signatures of the Mahasamiti members to table a separate motion at the meeting.  (PR)
