Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli has said there is no doubt about Nepal being the birth place of Gautam Buddha and urged everyone not to make it an issue of debate.

Inaugurating the 2562^nd Buddha Jayanti ceremony in Lumbini on Monday, Oli said discussions about Buddha’s birthplace should not be taken time and again for debate.

“Let's end this debate about Buddha’s birth place,” Oli urged foreigners taking part in the ceremony. “If any textbooks have any dilemma about his birth place, it should be rectified,” he added.

Oli added the government would take diplomatic initiatives to correct Buddha’s birthplace. Oli said it had already been proved that Buddha was born in Nepal and his philosophies were also propounded in Nepal. He also said that works will be done to develop areas including Tilaurakot, Devdaha and Ramgram after conducting all necessary studies for the same.
