Mahottari district has been in sombre mood since early Saturday morning after a dead body of a local youth was found at Matihani-8. The deceased has been identified as Ramesh Thakur of Matihani-7.

Police Inspector Kedar Basnet informed that the body was found near the main gate of drinking water office near Matihani market and village.

Police investigation states that Thakur was attacked on his head with a rod or rock. The nature of wounds suggests that he was killed brutally, Basnet said. “It appears he was knocked with rod or rock on the head. His head is broken and brain has spilled out,” he added.

Thakur operated a hair-saloon in Matihani market. Police said the attack took place while he was returning back home Friday night. The incident spot lies at 200 metres north of Nepal-India No-man’s land. Police suspect that perpetrators could have fled to India after the attack.
