Police opened fire in air after an altercation occurred between the cadres of left alliance and democratic alliance in Tulsivanjyang of Syanjga district during the elections on Thursday.
The dispute that began on issues related to voters took a nasty turn ending in fight between the both sides.
Police intervened to control the situation and resorted to fire in air to contain the brawl, locals said.
Galyang police post said they had to open fire in the air as they could not stop the alliances from fighting.
Beside this incident, the elections are being convened peacefully in the district where there are two constituencies and four provincial assembly constituencies. There are 199 polling stations and 295 election centres in the district.
53 pc votes cast
The federal parliamentary and provincial assembly elections that began from 7am today in Syangja has seen 53 percent votes cast till this news was updated.
Office of the Chief Election Officer spokesperson Yam Prasad Regmi said that 53 percent votes have been cast till now.
Voters are participating in the poll with sheer enthusiasm, it is learnt.
