The government is hiring 98,168 Myadi Prahari (temporary cops) for the federal and provincial elections scheduled for November 26 and December 7.
According to an official at the Ministry of Home Affairs, it had sought 100,800 temporary cops but after the Ministry of Finance reduced the fund, the ministry also decided to bring the number down to 98,168.

According to a notice issued by the Metropolitan Police Range on Tuesday, aspiring candidates can apply before October 16.
The temporary cops will be hired for a total of 55 days. Each temporary cop will get Rs 17, 230 plus allowance and other facilities.
The government will bear the treatment expenses in case temporary cops are injured in any incident during the elections. The government has also allocated Rs1.5 million in compensation to the family member if a cop dies while on duty. Nepali citizens between 18 and 54 years of age can apply for the job.
Former Nepal Police, Armed Police Force and Nepal Army personnel have been encouraged to apply.
The number of temporary cops for the upcoming polls is higher compared to the second Constituent Assembly elections in 2013. The government had deployed 45,000 temporary cops in 2013 CA elections.
