Around 200 houses have been submerged after the overflowing waters of Patharaiya River entered human settlements at Tikapur Municipality and Janaki Rural Municipality on Friday.
Fifty-two households of Bhartapur village in Tikapur Municipality-6 have been displaced, Ward chairman Baliram Chaudhary said. He said the flood-affected families have moved to higher grounds at Bhawanpur and Bhartapur Primarcy School.
Dozens of houses in market area of Tikapur Municipality have been inundated and roads are waterlogged.
Likewise, over 100 houses of Janaki Rural Municipaity-3 and Jawalpur-4 have been submerged. Scores of people have been displaced after the floods in Patharaiya and Kulariya Rivers entered human settlements.
Police and locals have been engaged in rescue of the displaced people.
Janaki Rural Municipaity Chairman Pradeep Chaudhary said they have been making arrangement of dry food and other food stuff as immediate relief for the flood affected.
According to official at Attariya-based Department of Hydrology and Meteorology Birjlal Chaudhary, Chisapani received 208.8 mm rainfall in the past 12 hours and Dhangadi received 94.3 mm rainfall. The water level in Karnali River has crossed the danger mark and the people living in the downstream settlements have been alerted to stay safe.
