Earthquake-affected families in Ramechhap have demanded the government to issue the second batch of the housing reconstruction aid.
Around 1,500 homes are being constructed in the district, according to the Urban Development and Building Construction Division Office. It is said that a majority of the people who began constructing their homes with the first tranche of the aid from the National Reconstruction Authority have already spent the sum.
Madhav Syapatri of Phulasi village said the Rs 50,000 he got from the NRA for house construction was spent two months ago and that he needs additional fund to continue the works.
Gyani Tamang of Doramba village has also run out of the money to pay the workers.
The government should start distributing the second portion of the aid for those who are eligible for it, she said.
Narendra Katwal, an engineer with the NRA, said he and his colleagues often get inquired by the earthquake-affected families about the aid money, for which they have no answers.
Around 44,000 homes in Ramechhap were destroyed by the 2015 earthquake and its strong aftershocks.
