A Multi-Sectoral Nutrition Programme has been launched in 28 districts. The National Planning Commission, Ministry of Federal Affairs and Local Development, Ministry of Health, Ministry of Education, Ministry of Women and Children and the Ministry of Livestock Development launched the nutrition programmes through the thematic offices in the respective districts. 

Awareness campaigns on intake of nutritious diets by new mothers, expectant mothers and newborns and on vaccination will be carried out as part of the programme. 

In Nawalparasi, the programme will be launched in 20 VDCs of Ramgram Municipality. 

According to Mohan Gyawali, the focal nutrition person and programme official, of the District Development Committee said that permission has already been taken for allocating around Rs 10 million from the ministry for the programme. 

The nutrition programme was started in Nepal since 2013. In the first phase, the multi-sectoral programme was launched in six districts and the following year, it was introduced in 11 districts. Eleven more districts were included in the third year.
