Tribhuvan University Institute of Medicine Dean KP Singh on Friday announced his resignation for what he said to 'save the life of agitating Dr Govinda KC’.

The resignation comes in the wake of widespread protests against Singh’s appointment to dean’s post.

Singh, whose appointment to dean’s post was said to be in breach of seniority, told the Post over  phone that Dr KC’s life was more important than his post.

Dr Govinda KC has been staging hunger for the past 20 days demanding that Jagadish Agrawal should be appointed as dean based on seniority. However, TU executive council on November 13 appointed Singh to the post of dean.  

Senior orthopedic surgeon at TU Teaching Hospital Dr Govinda KC began his tenth indefinite hunger strike on November 14.
