Singer Gurung was admitted at Chabahil-based Medicare Hospital for treatment of his liver infection.
"Khemraj is no more with us. Doctors involved in his treatment have confirmed his death," Gurung's acquaintance Kamalikant Bhetwal told the Post.
Born in Sankhuwasabha district, Gurung had recorded 12 music albums. His popular folk song 'Wari Jamuna Pari Jamuna' had once become too popular among Nepali people. His other popular numbers include 'Tamang Selo Nacchu Vanthey', 'Bhanchan Budapakale', among others.
He is survived by wife and two sons. His relatives are waiting for the arrival of his mother and sister from the UK to perform his last rites. Till then, his body is to be kept at the Tribhuvan University Teaching Hospital.
Jeevan, Jeevan-2, Anamol, Dharan-Pokhara, Soaltee, Alootama, Dhakre, Dhakre (folksongs) and Ghumfir are his famous albums of folk and folk-pop songs.
