A man who tried to take a selfie with an elephant was killed by the agitated tusker at Amlekhgunj in Bara district on Sunday evening.
Yubaraj Regmi, chief conservation officer at Parsa Wildlife Reserve, on Tuesday said that the elephant attacked Bhanubhakta Karki when he got close to the animal and turned his back on it to take a picture with his phone.
Karki was a tanker driver from Hetauda, Makawanpur. A herd of 21 elephants from the reserve had taken their seasonal migration route to reach Amlekhgunj on Saturday night. Regmi said Karki was attacked by one of the elephants from the pack.
