Three more persons died after eating toxic mushroom in Panchthar district on Wednesday. With this, the death toll from wild mushroom consumption has reached eight in the district within a week.
According to the District Police Office, three persons died while undergoing treatment in Dharan-based BP Koirala Institute of Health Sciences on Wednesday. They were identified as Basanta Rai, 35, Nisesh Rai, 14, of Phidim Municipality-3, and Puspalata Mabo of Tharpu VDC-6.
A few days ago, five people including three members of a family died after consuming poisonous mushroom in the eastern hill district. An entire family was ill after eating a mushroom dish on Saturday evening.
