The people displaced by the Babai river flood in August, 2014, obstructed the traffic along the Gulariya-Nepalgunj road on Monday, to protest the delay in relief and resettlement. One hundred sixty-two families were rendered homeless by the flood.
The flood displaced people also staged a sit-in protest at the District Administration Office demanding that the government should immediately provide them land and fund to build new homes.
Although the government had announced to provide Rs 125,000 each to the flood displaced family to purchase land and build homes, the fund has not been released yet.
