Butwal-based Lumbini Zonal Hospital remained tense throughout the day over the death of a pregnant woman at the hospital on Wednesday.
Relatives of Ram Kumari Tamang, a resident of Sunwal-6 in Nawalparasi, claimed that she died due to negligence of nurses. They alleged that the nurses did not inform the doctor though she had an excessive bleeding at midnight. She had gone to the hospital on Tuesday morning for giving birth but was declared dead the next morning.
The deceased woman’s relatives picketed the maternity ward of the hospital and refused to claim the body.
But the hospital sources attributed the maternal death to sudden malfunctioning of her lungs and heart and the failure to inform the doctors on time. Acting Medical Superintendent of the Hospital Dr Rajendra Khanal said a probe commission will be formed to look into the death and punish the guilty.
