Six unidentified human skeletons found at Langtang area in the district were transported to the Forensic Unit of the Tribhuvan University Teaching Hospital in the Capital on a Nepal Army helicopter for DNA testing on Wednesday.
The skeletons, supposedly the remaining of those buried in the avalanche following the April 25 earthquake, were kept safely at Langtang helipad for a month.
Fifteen other skeletons also found in the area by a search team, however, have already been handed over to their relatives. Chief District Officer Shivaram Gelal said the skeletons were identified on the basis of clothes and other belongings.
At least 10 Nepal Army soldiers, including some officials from Narayan Dal battalion, are still missing in the area. Locals claimed 85 people are also missing in Langtang area. More than 100 complaints were lodged seeking help to search for people who went missing in the district after the earthquake. Locals said around 175 locals and 100 foreigners were killed in Langtang area. They were believed to be buried in the avalanche that swept across a village.
