As per the DAO, quake-affected areas of Haku, Dandagaun and Thulogaun VDCs in the district should be evacuated at the earliest.

Likewise, the DAO has also suggested that some settlements in Bhorle, Laharepauwa, Yarsha should be relocated, too.

“The DAO has informed us to relocate our village because of the increased threat of landslides” said Bam Bahadur Gurung of Thulogaun, adding that fissures and cracks have developed in the fields after the quake.

Chief District Officer Uddhav Prasad Bhattarai said that around 2, 000 households of seven VDCs have to be relocated.

While Langtang VDC has already been evacuated post the major aftershock on May 12, the remaining three VDCs are preparing for evacuation.

Meanwhile, locals of Hakubesi, who are in search of a safer location, have been residing in district headquarters Dhunche.

Likewise, victims from areas including Haku, Tiru, Goganebashi, Dandagaun, Khadgku and Karumaryang, VDCs which are prone to landslides, have also been taking refuge at safer locations in Betrabeti and Indrenighat in Nuwakot district.

Quake victims of Thulogaun are staying near Nuwakot Shanti bazaar area and also in the residential building of Trishuli III-A Hydro-power Project.

Similarly, Thangdor and Ghormu of Yarsha, Khalchhet of Bhorle, Pairebesi of Laharepauwa and Kuwapani areas are also under threat of landslides.

“The risk of landslide in these areas during monsoon is very high as fissures and cracks have developed in the areas after the quake,” said CDO Bhattarai.
