Baidya had proposed forming the ‘Communist Unity Centre’ by bringing together all like-minded parties to bolster the strength of the Maoist forces in the national politics, which received unanimous approval from the party

members.

However, this is not the first time CPN-Maoist has floated such proposal. It had aborted the unification talks with CPN-Revolutionary and CPN (Unified) last year, following an internal tussle that eventually led to the party split in November.

Baidya has said that unity among the Maoist forces is crucial as the ruling Nepali Congress and CPN-UML have endangered the past achievements by trying to sideline the UCPN (Maoist) from the Constituent Assembly (CA).

“All past achievements are under threat. The UCPN (Maoist) should immediately walk out of the assembly to win confidence of the people and start street protests,” Baidya said after the meeting.  

Meanwhile, the party has added 37 new faces to its central committee, promoted senior CC members to politburo and announced a 10-members standing committee.
