Stating that he had made the mistake while he was high on emotion, Mustakim, who reached Jaleshwor on Friday, thanked police and journalists and pledged to remain together with his family and admit his children to school.

Moved by their story published on the Post, security agencies counselled both Mustakim and Hasmuna before they reached an agreement. The Area Administration Office in Gaushala issued a citizenship certificate for Hasmuna under her husband’s name on Wednesday. Deputy Superintendent of Police Lokendra Shrestha said the agreement opened the doors for justice to other such victims in Parsadewad. “Women do not have to be scared of us as we are ready to assist them in any possible way to ensure them justice,” he said.

Meanwhile, Khatun said her in-laws who sent her out of the house in the past were good to her when she met them with her husband. Expressing her gratitude to journalists and police, Khatun asked them to hear out the problem of other women like her.

More than 300 Muslim women are said to have been divorced in Parsadewad alone.
