Prabhakar Jha of DPHO said that the campaign started after a local person died of hepatitis ‘B’ and seven people were found to be suffering from the disease. Ram Pratap Paswan died of the virus infection last week.
“We have started vaccinating local people against the infection. We are also making them aware of the disease”, said Jha. He complained about most villagers not having toilets at their homes, making them even more vulnerable to the virus. He added the need to make locals aware of sanitation and the necessity to build toilets at their homes to be safe from the infection. VDC secretary Harikantalal Karna added that they purchased medicines and necessary equipment from India, then, dispatched them to affected villages. Local resident Daroga Paswan talked about the risk of virus outbreak in villages.
Meanwhile, the Women Network organised a free health camp has been organised on gynaecology at Netrajung VDC in the district on Sunday.
