Integration with Visa Direct will enable transfers through participating partners to supported bank accounts and eSewa wallets in Nepal.Post Report
eSewa Money Transfer (EMT) has partnered with global payments company Visa to facilitate international remittance transfers to Nepal through Visa Direct, a global money movement platform.
The collaboration connects international senders with recipients in Nepal through EMT’s domestic payout network. Depending on the participating partner and transaction route, eligible transfers can be directed to supported bank accounts and eSewa wallets.
The service is now live through participating Visa Direct-enabled partners, subject to the availability of supported receiving channels and applicable transaction requirements, the companies said in a statement.
The partnership combines Visa Direct’s international payment capabilities with EMT’s local remittance infrastructure, aiming to give Nepalese living and working abroad more convenient ways to send money home and provide recipients with greater flexibility in accessing funds.
“Our vision has always been to make remittance services simpler, faster, and more accessible for Nepalese people around the world,” said Ajesh Koirala, chief executive officer of eSewa Money Transfer.
He said the partnership would strengthen the company’s international payment connectivity and expand the channels through which remittances can reach recipients in Nepal.
