Himalaya Airlines announces Pokhara-Lhasa flights
Himalaya Airlines will operate one flight a week on the Kathmandu-Lhasa-Pokhara-Lhasa-Kathmandu route, with plans to increase the frequency based on demand.

Himalaya Airlines has announced the expansion of its regional connectivity with the launch of a new weekly flight between Pokhara, the tourism capital of Nepal, and Lhasa, famously known as the Roof of the World. The flights will commence on March 31.
This will be the first scheduled passenger flight from Pokhara since its inauguration on January 1, 2023.
The joint venture airline of Nepal and Tibet stated that the move aims to strengthen air links between Nepal and China, marking a significant milestone in regional aviation.
“Dedicated to promoting Nepal’s tourism industry and fostering international travel, Himalaya Airlines continues to expand its network to provide seamless and convenient travel options. The Pokhara-Lhasa flight underscores the airline’s commitment to connecting Nepal to the world, facilitating cultural exchanges, and supporting tourism growth in both destinations,” the airline said in a statement.

According to the initial schedule, the Kathmandu-Lhasa flight will depart from Tribhuvan International Airport at 8:30 am (local time) on March 31 and arrive at Lhasa Gonggar Airport at 12:05 pm (Chinese local time).
The Lhasa-Pokhara flight will leave Lhasa Gonggar Airport at 1:15 pm (local time) on March 31 and land at Pokhara International Airport at 12:45 pm (local time).
The Pokhara-Lhasa flight will depart from Pokhara International Airport at 8:20 am (local time) on April 1, 2025, arriving at Lhasa Gonggar Airport at 12:05 pm (Chinese local time).
The Lhasa-Kathmandu flight will take off from Lhasa Gonggar Airport at 1:15 pm (local time) on April 1 and land at Tribhuvan International Airport at 12:35 pm (local time).
“Himalaya Airlines remains committed to delivering quality service and safe travel experiences for its passengers. Launching this route is expected to boost tourism during the lean summer season,” said Vijay Shrestha, spokesperson for Himalaya Airlines.
He added, “The main mission of Himalaya Airlines is to operate flights to 10 different tourism sectors in China and welcome 1 million Chinese tourists to Nepal.”
Himalaya Airlines has consistently explored new routes to China, paving the way for innovative travel options beyond regular operations.
