: MG Motor has officially launched its latest electric SUV, the MG S5, marking a significant milestone in the brand's electric vehicle (EV) portfolio expansion. The S5 is set to replace the MG ZS electric SUV in several global markets, including Europe, and is positioned as a compact, pure electric SUV, the company said in a statement.
With a starting price of 103,900 RMB (Rs1.93 million), the S5 is set to rival other electric models in the segment with its cutting-edge features and technology. One of the most notable features of the new MG S5 is its ultra-thin battery pack, which the company claims to be the thinnest in the world.
The electric SUV is powered by a single-motor rear-wheel drive (RWD) setup, capable of generating 165 horsepower (bhp) and 250 Nm of torque. This setup allows the S5 to reach a top speed of 170 km/h, with a 0-100 km/h acceleration time of 8 seconds.
The vehicle offers a competitive range of up to 525 km on a single charge, depending on the model variant, which will appeal to customers looking for a practical and efficient electric SUV.
