Blue Dragon Marathon Walk for a cause
This is Intrepid DMC Nepal’s second year of hosting the event in Nepal.Post Report
Intrepid DMC Nepal organised a 21 km Blue Dragon Marathon Walk in Kathmandu, to raise funds in order to support vulnerable children and victims of human trafficking in Vietnam. It is a global event organised by the Blue Dragon Children’s Foundation every year. This is Intrepid DMC Nepal’s second year of hosting the event in Nepal. In Vietnam, it is estimated that one out of five children live in poverty. They are often forced to leave school and look for work far from home, putting them at risk of homelessness and human trafficking. The Blue Dragon Children’s Foundation gives Vietnamese children and the families affected by human trafficking a chance to turn their lives around. Ashish Verma, Country General Manager for Intrepid DMC Nepal, said: “The Nepal DMC aimed to raise Rs 100,000 by walking 21 km inside Kathmandu and it was able to raise Rs110,919. The Intrepid Foundation has collectively raised over $280,000 meeting their target goal of $250,000 from the event across the world. All proceeds will go to the Blue Dragon Children’s Foundation.” The marathon walk started from the Intrepid DMC Nepal office in Lazimpat with 30 participants and marched to Maharajgunj, Hattigauda, Italitar, Chunikhel, Jagdol, Kapan, Sukedhara, Dhumbarahi and returned to Lazimpat, covering 21 km in total.
