NOC plans to increase its storage capacity to meet the demand of at least three months from existing less than three weeks.
NOC Managing Director Gopal Bahadur Khadka put forward the proposal during his meeting with Prime Minister Puspa Kamal Dahal at the latter’s office on Wednesday.
Khadka said they sought the government’s help in acquiring land for the construction of fuel storage plants. The government plans to build the plants in Pachkhaal of Kavre, Tanahu and Nuwakot.
Khadka added the NOC also urged the government to help acquire land for construction of the pipeline. NOC and Indian Oil Corporation has already signed a memorandum of understanding to construct the 41km pipeline from Indias’ Raxaul to Nepal’s Amlekhgunj.
According to Khadka, they informed Prime Minister Dahal that the pipeline project requires 33.6 acres of land, including forest land.
