Ncell: You can disable unnecessary services

According to the company, the scheme is expected to improve customer experience. It has requested customers to exercise their “right to choice” smartly and deactivate chargeable services in case they are not using them.
“This initiative was launched mainly targeting customers who selected ‘automatic monthly renewal’
while activating permanent services like Personal Ring Back Tone (PRBT) and My5, but do not tend to use the service accordingly,” Ncell said in a statement.
According to the company, customers were given options to renew the service automatically or manually each month when PRBT and My5 were introduced. The activation of services in a recurring auto-renew mode makes charges applicable on a monthly basis.
Following the initiative, around 250,000 customers who had subscribed to My5 with a monthly auto renewal option but were not using it have deactivated the service. Likewise, nearly 1.4 million customers who had activated PRBT under auto-renew option but had not been using them have deactivated the service, according to Ncell.
“When we studied the service use trend of our customers, we found that there were subscribers who had selected the auto-renew option but had later forgotten about it. And even though they were not using the services, they were still paying the charges for the service every month. Hence, we took the initiative to reach out to such customers,” said Milan Sharma, corporate communications expert of Ncell.
The company has been urging customers to be aware of the services they are using and obtain additional information if required. It has informed customers who have bought services that are automatically renewed monthly but are not using them about their service activation status via SMS. Ncell has provided instructions on how to deactivate the services if they do not want to use them.
