Slew of smartphones lined up for launch
As the market gradually returns to normal after the April 25 earthquake, a number of mobile phone dealers are planning to launch new handsets.

Traders had postponed launches as the quake hampered sales. Brands like Micromax, Microsoft and Colors, among others, plan to roll out their latest devices.
Microsoft’s authorised distributor for Nepal, Paramount Electronics, will launch the Lumia 640XL smartphone this week. The phone was originally planned to be launched in April-end.
“Sales have started to increase for the last few days. So we are launching the new phone this week. We hope this phone will do well,” said Ashish Jindal, managing director of Paramount.
The Lumia 640XL comes with a 5.7-inch HD screen, features 13MP rear and 3MP front camera, and 3,000-mAh battery. The phone runs on 1.2GHz quad-core processor and 1GB RAM.
The company said although the smartphone will come with Windows 8.1 OS, it will get Windows 10 update later this year. Paramount also plans to launch the Lumia 540 by the end of this month.
Call Mobility, authorised distributor of Huawei, had planned to launch the Honor 4X (Cherry) smartphone by the April, but had to postpone the plan. Now, the company plans to launch the phone this month. “We had to hold the launch for around two months,” said Roshan Neupane, marketing manager of the company. The phone features a 5.5-inch screen and is powered by 1.2GHz Octa-Core processor. Other features are 2GB RAM, 8GB internal storage, 3,000mAh battery, 13MP rear and 5MP front cameras.
Pashupati Trade Link, authorised distributor of Micromax will bring out the Canvas Nitro 2. The phone has a 5-inch HD (720p) and a 1.4GHz octa-core processor. The phone features 2GB RAM, 16GB internal storage, 2,400-mAh battery, 13MP rear and 5MP front facing cameras.
Teletalk is all set to roll out two new budget smartphones—the X117 Mega Quad and X111 Quad 1.1—by the end of June. The X117 Mega Quad features 5-inch FWVA screen and has 1.2GHz Quad-Core processor. The phone features 8GB ROM, 1GB RAM, 2,100-mAh battery, 5MP rear and 2MP front cameras. Teletalk said the phone will be priced between Rs12,000 and Rs15,000. The X111 Quad 1.1 comes with 4-inch WVGA screen and features 4GB ROM, 512MB RAM, 1.2GHz Quad core processor, 5MP rear camera and 0.3MP front camera. The phone is equipped with 1,400mAh battery.
According to the company, the phone will be available at less than Rs10,000. “Both the phones are affordable and will be suitable for price-conscious consumers,” said Niru Dhougoda, senior marketing executive at Teletalk.
