“We are going to produce high quality organic fertilizer that can provide the necessary nourishment to plants,” said Bal Bahadur Dhital, proprietor of the factory. The factory was built with an outlay of Rs 6 million. The government has subsidized 50 percent of the cost of the machinery. According to Dhital, the factory has produced 40 tonnes of fertilizers since February. “We have received a very good response from farmers.” The factory has been selling its products at Rs 25 per kg at the gate. The cost of transportation is added when the fertilizer is bought from other places, said Dhital.
The fertilizer is packed in 20 kg and 25 kg sacks. It is produced by mixing 17 materials including herbs, chicken droppings, urine of livestock, ash, agricultural lime, bone, pina and powdered fish.
Dhital has used technology that he learnt in Japan. He also demanded that the government subsidize organic manure like it does chemical fertilizer.
