Singer Ani Choying Drolma has donated Rs 10 million to the government programme that aims to replace the country’s tuins (pulley crossings) with bridges.
Drolma handed over the amount to Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli in the first episode of ‘Prime Minister with the People’, which was aired on Nepal Television on Wednesday night.
On the occasion, the singer of ‘Phoolko Aankhama Phoolai Sansara’ fame hoped that the amount would contribute to building at least one suspension bridge. She also extended her best wishes to the government to live up to the aspirations of the nation and the people in a meaningful way.
Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli pledged his one month’s salary to the amount donated by Drolma to set up ‘Tuin Displacement Fund’.
Programme presenter Manoj Pandey announced that he would contribute Rs 50,000 to this fund.
Prime Minister Oli, during his previous tenure in 2015, had vowed to replace all tuin crossings in the country with suspension bridges.
