RJP-N in talks with SSF-N for tie-up
Yadav-led Sanghiya Samajbadi Forum-Nepal for forging an electoral alliance between the two parties.Yadav-led Sanghiya Samajbadi Forum-Nepal for forging an electoral alliance between the two parties.After the newly united force realised that its showing in the third phase of local level elections in Province 2 could improve had they formed alliances with other parties including the SSF-N, the RJP-N on Tuesday formally decided to have tie-ups with the forces willing to amend the constitution promulgated two years as the federal and provincial elections draw near.
RJP-N General Secretary Keshav Jha said the party has started informal talks with Yadav for an alliance with the SSF-N in the upcoming elections.A two-day joint meeting of the party’s political committee and secretariat decided to seek an alliance with parties including the Nepali Congress and the CPN (Maoist Centre), attaching priority to Madhes-centric forces such as the SSF-N and the Bijay Gachhadar-led Nepal Loktantrik Forum.
The party has entrusted coordinator Mahantha Thakur with naming leaders who will hold talks with other parties. Another general secretary, Manish Suman said the party would unite with the parties that voted in favour of constitution amendment.The RJP-N meeting decided to prepare the list of proportional representation candidates by October 13. The party has directed its committees to provide the list of candidates within a week after Dashain.
Assessing the results of the third-phase local elections, leaders blamed the RJP-N’s indecision over participation in the elections for defections of influential leaders who won the elections after joining other parties.On the other hand, the SSF-N has also decided to explore possible alliances for the upcoming polls. A meeting of the party on Monday decided to initiate talks with like-minded parties the including the RJP-N for electoral alliances.
