Coordinator of Dalit Shakti Sushila Sirpaili, among five other central leaders of the organisation, resigned from their positions citing the party’s apathy towards the concerns of Dalit and oppressed communities.
Party spokesperson Khimlal Devkota had resigned from his post a few days ago on moral grounds after the party suffered loss in local level elections.
“Although we were in various leadership positions in the organisation, we had to seek our rights from others. This prompted us to resign from our posts,” Dalit Shakti spokesperson Dalmardan Kami told the Post.
Kami said that their resignation was a wakeup call to warn the party to correct its leadership. He went on to say that they will be compelled to look for alternative if the party does not correct its course.
He complained the party of forgoing Dalit issues during party meetings and said the party should balance all clusters inside the party and formulate common strategy.
