DPM Thapa advocates for reinstatement of Hindu state
The Rastriya Prajatantra Party has directed its party line to toe revival of Hinduism as the party’s crucial agenda in the upcoming local level elections scheduled for May 14.
The Rastriya Prajatantra Party has directed its party line to toe revival of Hinduism as the party’s crucial agenda in the upcoming local level elections scheduled for May 14.
A week after taking oath as the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Federal Affairs and Local Development of a republic and secular country, RPP President Kamal Thapa directed his cadres to strongly present party’s ideology of Hindu state during its poll campaign.
Addressing a gathering of cadres from various districts in the Capital on Wednesday, Thapa claimed that the party had not compromised on its position to join the government. The fourth largest party in the Legislature-Parliament is preparing to start the election campaign across the country on March 21.
“Revival of Hindu state is the major agenda for the election,” Thapa said at the programme, asking the party line not to be confused over party’s agenda. The right wing party has been voicing against secularism, republicanism and federalism. Reiterating RPP’s stance against the amendment bill tabled in the House, Thapa warned they would vote against it if the provision on the revision of provincial boundaries is not put on hold. He said that the local election will be held at any cost and expressed his belief that the Madhes-centric parties will also take part in the election as the government is preparing to endorse the amendment other than revision in the boundary.
The RPP ministers have been openly advocating for a Hindu state and revival of monarchy despite being in the leadership under the constitutional provision.
