A piece of land claimed as dowry by former princess Prerana Shah belongs to the government, the Supreme Court has said in its ruling.

A full bench of Chief Justice Sushila Karki, Justices Sapana Pradhan Malla and Deep Kumar Karki on Thursday revoked the earlier decision to award a 15-ropani land in Chhauni to former princess as her dowry received from her father former king Gyanendra Shah.

A division bench of former Chief Justice Ramkumar Prasad Sah and Cholendra Shumsher Rana had earlier ruled in favour of the former princess. After the Royal massacre, Gyanendra had acquired all the property belonging to his brother late King Birendra. Gyanedra had gifted the land to his daughter in her wedding. 

However, the government had nationalised all the property owned by king Birendra after the popular movement in 2006.
