Sujan Sharma, 24, of Boudha Kathmandu, drowned while kayaking at a picnic park in the valley with his wife and friends. His body was rescued by medical team and rescue personnel only after four hours and was declared dead on the spot, his brother-in-law Rabin Subedi told the Post.
Sharma had gone to Australia in 2013 on a student visa. His wife is doing nursing at a local college.
Nepali ambassador to Australia Rajendra Panday said they are aware of the situation and are ready to provide financial assistance to the family. Preparations are being made to fly his body to his relatives.
This is the second incident in two days in Sydney where a Nepali has died of accidential drowing. Sujan Adhikari of Kirtipur had drowned on Sunday while swimming at Wattamolla beach on Sunday.
