Nepali Congress leader Sujata Koirala has said that she is now “cancer-free” following a second operation.

“Following mastectomy while conducting first round treatment of my breast cancer, it was revealed that I also had cyst in my ovary. I have just successfully completed a second operation on it,” she revealed on her Facebook page on Sunday. 

The NC leader, who is currently convalescing, has expressed her wish to return to regular public activities once she has fully recovered.

Koirala was diagnosed with breast cancer during a medical check-up in Malaysia 

last month. She had immediately undergone a surgery there. She underwent a 

second operation in Singapore three weeks.

Following her cancer diagnosis, Koirala had allegedly requested the government for Rs 10 million as treatment expenses, causing a widespread public outrage. 

The government had decided to provide her Rs 5 million.
