During a national annual process review seminar relating to the activities under the Ministry for the fiscal year 2015/16, Minister Thapa admitted that the Ministry was yet to grasp the new ways and habits for implementing encouraging health programmes. "I learnt everything about the health sector now. Time has come for result-oriented activities. For this, all need to shun the traditional mindset," he stressed.
According to him, serious discussion was essential on the health rights of the people that are enshrined as fundamental rights in the constitution. "Information on free health service, and free medicine must be provided to every citizen, respecting their right to information," he stressed, adding that the free health service was possible because of the tax the government is paid.
The Minister became very aggressive against the progress report of the Health Directorate from five development regions, arguing why he could not hear the positive progress in the review seminar.
On the occasion, Health Secretary Dr Senendra Raj Uprety directed the subordinate officials to make future plans and implement effectively.
Numerous problems and failures in the delivery of health service were discussed during the seminar. RSS
